Dr. Lindsay O’Shea is highly experienced in working with kids, teens, and young adults (aged 5-23) and the parents who love them.
Parents, you might be here because your child is struggling - and you are not sure what to do next.
Something feels off, and you’re not sure whether it’s anxiety, ADHD, burnout, stress, or just a really hard season. You’ve tried being patient, reassuring, consistent, and firm - but home still feels tense, reactive, or exhausting.
Your child has huge meltdowns after holding it together all day.
Your teen seems anxious, withdrawn, irritable, or hard to reach.
Homework turns into conflict every night.
You’re wondering if this is ADHD, anxiety, perfectionism, emotional overload, or something else.
Your have tried rewards, consequences, reassurance, and patients, but nothing is really changing.
You need practical support for yourself, not vague advice.
This is exactly the kind of thing I help families with.
I work with families to:
Help children and teens manage anxiety and big emotions.
Support teens dealing with stress, anxiety, and withdrawal.
Improve parent-child communication.
Provide parents with clear, practical strategies that actually work.
Real support starts here.
How I help children, teens, and parents in San Diego
If any of this sounds like your family, you're in the right place.
I work with children, teens, and parents to create real change - at home, at school, and in the moments that matter most.
Kids with ADHD who are struggling in school + at home
For kids who are bright, capable, and constantly overwhelmed by school, routines, transitions, and expectations. We build executive functioning, emotional regulation, and confidence skills your child needs to thrive.
Anxious, high-achieving kids who are shutting down
For kids and teens who overthink, avoid, shut down, stay stuck, or seem constantly on edge. We get underneath the anxiety so they can build confidence, cope more effectively, and feel more like themselves again.
Parents managing emotional dysregulation - fast
For parents who feel exhausted by meltdowns, conflict, emotional dysregulation, or not knowing what to do next. You get insight into what is driving the behavior and practical strategies you can start using right away.
You don’t have to figure this out alone. I’m here to help.
What happens next
Warm, practical and built for busy families
I use evidence-based approaches and tailor them to your family’s unique needs and goals. By integrating psychodynamic therapy, CBT, play therapy, and parent coaching, I create a process that actually works in real life - amid soccer practices, sibling dynamics, and everything in between.

Things parents often want to know:
How do I know if my child needs therapy?
1
If you’re asking this question, it’s worth paying attention. You don’t need a crisis to seek support. Many parents reach out when something just feels “off.” Trust that instinct. Getting support early can make things easier for both you and your child.
If your child is feeling more anxious, overwhelmed, irritable, or shut down than usual—or if home life is starting to feel tense, reactive, or hard to manage—therapy can help.
What type of therapy do you offer?
2
Dr. Lindsay offers therapy for children, teens, parents, and families, including support for anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, and family dynamics. I also offer parent coaching to help you respond more effectively to your child’s behavior and build a calmer, more connected home.
In addition, I offer walk-and-talk therapy sessions to help kids and teens open up.
How do I get started?
3
Getting started is simple. Reach out through my contact form or schedule a call - I’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.
What ages do you work with?
4
I work with kids, teens, and young adults ages 5–23, as well as parents who need guidance and support.
If your child is anxious, overwhelmed, withdrawn, having frequent meltdowns, or struggling at home, school, or in relationships, therapy may help.
How do I know if my child or teen needs therapy?

Do you accept insurance?
6
I am an “out-of-network” provider. While I do not accept insurance directly, I can provide monthly superbills (like a receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement if your plan includes this benefit. When we connect on our initial consult call I would be happy to explain this further. I’ve seen some clients get as much as 75-80% reimbursement with this option!
Do you offer telehealth?
7
Yes, I offer telehealth sessions to those in California, Colorado, and Utah. I also offer in-person session in my office in Cardiff-by-the-Sea (San Diego).
What happens in the first session?
8
The first step is a parent consultation, followed by a plan based on your child’s needs, goals, and level of support. Then, we schedule your child’s first therapy session to get started.
